This past fall, school staff and parents started meeting to explore how to best meet the needs of our students with dyslexia. Since dyslexia can affect as many as 1 in 5 children, this is an issue that has an impact on many of our children, parents and teachers. The goal of the task force is to put together information for all parents, investigate best practices, and establish a plan for the district.
The team has gone on visits to two schools in the midwest that specialize in working with dyslexic students. In addition, we have started conversations about what changes we would like to see in our program.
If you are interested in attending, our next meeting is on March 23 at 6:30 in the district conference room. We will be sharing out from our past site visit, as well as talking about the current practices the district has in place to meet student needs.
