Senior Walk

Today, Friday May 24, the Gilbert 2019 seniors walked the halls of their past schools one more time. They were reminded about how far they have come and how much influence they have on the future.DSC_0041

Avoiding the Summer Slide

During the school year, we are constantly reading! We read all sorts of different books in all sorts of different genres to stretch our brains and learn new information. We work so hard during the school year, but what happens if we take a summer break from reading?  By not reading over the summer, students can lose months of hard academic work and will spend the first few weeks of school reviewing already learned content. If students spend even 30 minutes a day reading, they will be set up for success by the time fall comes. Summer is a fun time of year, but it, also, is an excellent time to curl up with a great book!

Battle of the Books

After months of hard work, these 5th graders are celebrating their 5th Grade Battle of the Books competition. These teams read a designated list of 18 books and competed against other schools at the Ames Public Library. The questions in the competition are based on facts from all of the books.
