Project Jack

Fourth graders participated in the Project Jack pay it forward project. They used the money to purchase fleece and made tie blankets for Project Linus.  They also had a book drive to promote reading and will be sending books along with the blankets.

Author/Illustrator Visits Gilbert Schools

On April 5, author/illustrator Julie Olsen visited both Gilbert Elementary and Intermediate. She shared how she decided to become an author and illustrator, as well as the process involved in creating a book. Olsen illustrated such titles as Herd of Cattle, Flock of Sheep and Hip , Hip Hooray! for Annie MacRae. She wrote and illustrated Tickle, Tickle, Itch, Twitch and Discover America. The children enjoyed learning about writing and illustrating books, and they were also able to help her create our very own “Gilbert the Tiger” character.
