Gilbert Community School District is preparing to welcome all students back to their classrooms on August 27 using appropriate COVID-19 mitigation strategies. We will be working closely with Story County and IA Dept. of Public Health and following recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and American Academy of Pediatrics. Our planning also provides options for on-line instruction should the need arise due to health concerns related to COVID-19.

Gilbert Cross Country and Track & Field Scholarship
Deb Anderson was a dedicated teacher and coach for 34 years at Gilbert. Teaching PE was very rewarding, but coaching Cross Country and Track & field were her true passion. She would like to award two $250 scholarships to two senior athletes who have competed for all 4 years in high school Cross Country AND Track & Field.
Deadline: May 2019 – to Mr. Jacobson’s office by 3:00 p.m.
Cory Keith Patterson Scholarship
The following scholarship is a $100 award for a student who have been involved in wrestling.
1) Student must have competed on the Gilbert High School wrestling team for a minimum of two years including the student’s senior year or served as a wrestling cheerleader for a similar time period.
2) Student must be planning to further his/her education at a two or four-year institution.
3) Student must have exhibited a high degree of athletic effort, sportsmanship and leadership in the wrestling room and on the wrestling mat.
4)Please describe your experience as a member of the Gilbert High School wrestling team / cheer leading squad and the importance it has played in both your overall high school experience and personal growth
The Iowa PGA Foundation offers an annual scholarship opportunity in memory of Charlie Burkart. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students in furthering their education. It is open to any graduating high school senior or previous graduate residing within the Iowa PGA Section or the state of Iowa.
At least one high school graduate will be the 2017 recipient of $1500 per year for four years at a college or university of their choice. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf, the potential for future contributions to the game, leadership skills/community involvement, then on their academic/professional ability and financial need.

The Coach Lynn Memorial Scholarship will reward one boy and one girl $1000 to put towards their college expenses. If you feel as though you have worked hard on and off the athletic field to prove that you have what it takes to become successful, this scholarship is for you. Coach Lynn believed in kids. He’d believe in you!
Must be a graduating senior from a Iowa high school
Must have participated in track and field
Must be planning to compete in athletics in college
Must display perseverance, sportsmanship, and good citizenship
Must be academically eligible to attend a two or four year college/university.
Must provide evidence of leadership both in sports and in school and community.
Must provide 3 one-page letters of reference. One letter must be from a coach.
