Engineers of Tomorrow Event at Iowa State University
SWENext Engineers of Tomorrow is an experiencing engineering day that will be hosted at Iowa State on December 3rd, 2022 from 12-4pm. This day is directed towards 9th through 12th grade students interested in engineering. The purpose of our camp is to expose the students to different disciplines of engineering offered at Iowa State. Every student will participate in four hands-on activities, each covering a different discipline. They will also get to talk with current Iowa State students about their experiences in engineering.Read More
Ames Children’s Choirs Winter Concert
The Ames Children’s Choirs will present their annual Winter Concert at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, at Green Hills Retirement Community, 2205 Green Hills Drive, Ames.
The program will feature choral hits ranging from Benjamin Britten to folk songs to Pinkzebra. Pieces will be sung in English, French, and, Latin.
The Ames Children’s Choirs consist of age-based ensembles with treble voices. Singers range in age from ages 7-18 and hail from various communities including Ames and Story City.

Props & Cocoa (Advanced)
Fire-themed prop construction and cocoa consumption. Let’s explore different ways to make fake flames look real!
Parent note: Students will be using hand tools and crafting materials including Great Stuff spray foam insulation, spray paint, Exacto knives, etc. We also may have the opportunity to test out flash paper, a product commonly used by thespians and magicians, which requires the handling of a lighter. Safety precautions will be taken and all activities will be carefully modeled and supervised by staff.

Play in a Day
Put your skills to the test (or come to learn some new ones!). Everyone works together to produce one play in only 8 hours. The day will begin with a vote on which of three scripts to produce, and from there we move rapid-fire through blocking, lights, sound, costumes, props, etc.
9:00 am-5:00 pm with a pizza party following and a 5:30 pm performance for family and friends.
