Gilbert Community School District is happy to welcome all students back to their classrooms. We are using appropriate COVID-19 mitigation strategies. We will be working closely with Story County and IA Dept. of Public Health as well as following recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Our planning also provides options for on-line instruction, should the need arise due to health concerns related to COVID-19.COVID-19: Return to Learn, Communication & Remote Learning Resources
At Gilbert Schools our philosophy is to implement a curriculum that serves every student every day. Our students develop and refine competencies around critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration.
We use the Four Essential Professional Learning Community (PLC) Questions to drive our instruction:
- What do we expect all students to learn?
- How will we know our students have learned it?
- How will we respond if they do not learn it?
- How will we respond if they already know it?
Strong PLC work coupled with outstanding professional development that emphasizes best practices such as Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW) and Project Based Learning (PBL) allow Gilbert Schools to address the learning needs of every student every day.
