Mission

The mission of Gilbert’s School Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that provides all students with the skills for academic achievement, personal and professional fulfillment, and to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.

Philosophy & Beliefs

Counselors at Gilbert Community School District believe that all students have dignity and worth, all students have the right to participate in the school counseling program, and that all students, K-12 shall have access to a full-time, state-certified school counselor to deliver the counseling program.

The Gilbert Community School Counseling Program will be planned, coordinated, and managed by a school counseling team in conjunction with other schools, parents, or guardians, and community representatives. It will be comprehensive in scope, developmental in design, and preventative in nature. This includes facilitating work in academic, career, and personal/social domains; and will use data to drive program development, direction, and evaluation including activities targeting under-served student populations.

All counselors in the Gilbert Community School District will be student-focused and driven by the desire to know and work with all students to help them become more productive members of society, participate in professional development activities essential to maintain a quality school-counseling program, and abide by the professional school counseling ethics as advocated by the American School Counselor Association.
