All of our spring sports are nearing tournament time and have had some successes leading up to post season play.  You can still catch some games or meets–our student athletes would love the support. We also have some spring concerts ahead and our music programs are so strong that the concerts are thoroughly enjoyable at all levels.  I’d also like to congratulate Haleigh Hadley who represented us at the Drake Relays and placed 8th in the high jump. I had worked with her at the middle school meet at the high jump and enjoyed visiting with her. I was happy to hear that she did so well at Drake.

Because we have hit the month of May, it is the season for all of the graduation parties celebrating this milestone for our seniors.  Commencement will be on May 26th, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the high school gymnasium. Baccalaureate will be held on May 15th at 7:00 pm at the Gilbert Lutheran Church.  We look forward to hearing about all of their future successes and wish them all the very best. It is a bittersweet time for families as it truly is the passing of an era.

We received some good news from U.S. News and World Report about how our school stacks up against others across the state and country.  We ranked as the #4 high school in the state of Iowa and were in the top 2000 in the nation, coming in at 1,160. We have so many good things happening at Gilbert each and every day.  I am proud to lead the district through such exciting times.
